Poojyasri Muralidhara Swamigal (affectionately called "Swamiji" by his devotees) renounced his worldly ties at an early age, to take on himself a part, in the redeeming of the Hindu faith and philosophy - which is grossly misunderstood by people nowadays and which , is now facing a danger of being infested with charlatans and quacks.
Our young Swamiji, showed signs of his immense divinity right at an early age ; when his peers were preoccupied with toys, games , films and fun , the young Swamiji found himself pulled towards the beauty and glory of Lord Srinivasa. He found great satisfaction in worshipping an image of Lord Srinivasa in his house. Later, in one of his conversations , he confided that , all his prayers before the image of his beloved Lord were immediately answered. He had an inexplicable attraction towards Saffron robes and Sanyasis in his early childhood. His father had deep regards for all sadhus and saints. He used to entertain them frequently in his house. Seeing them , Swamiji developed a desire to be one like them.
Sri Krishna , who has been enchanting sages and saints from time immemorial , wanted our Swamiji also in his elite group of Prema Bhaktas (devotees intoxicated with Divine love) .
So , today Swamiji has established a mission - Guruji Sri Muralidhara Swamigal Mission - and temple of Lord Srinivasa and Radha-Krishna (Premika Varadan with Madhuri Sakhi as his consort) in Madras , an ashram in the peaceful and rustic surroundings outside Madras to celebrate various festivals like Janmashtami, Rama Navami , Vasantotsavam , etc. He plans to build a Radha-Krishna Temple in Srivanam (170 kms south of Delhi).
The mission regularly honors Vedic scholars , Bhagavathars and Audhuvars.
The mission is also managing a school teaching Yajur and Sama Veda to young aspirants ,and is aptly named as Sandipini Gurukulam.
Amidst the noisy and merry celebrations of Diwali in the year 1961, a child was born in a small town called Cuddalore , about 200 kms from Madras - who was sent as the choicest gift to the world by the Lord; who was to play an important part in the revival of our great spiritual tradition ; who was to show an easy path of salvation to the millions who suffer in the miseries of mundane existence ; who was to exhibit to the world what selfless love is, in the form of a Guru to real seekers of Divinity. His parents - Srimathi Savithri and Sri Rajagopala Aiyyar named him - Muralidharan .
Swamiji's respect and love for Vedas and others ancient scriptures passeth all human understanding. He holds the path of Bhakthi through Nama Kirthanam (singing the names and glories of the Lord) in equal esteem. In fact , he favours the latter as the most relevant path for today , as it is the easiest way to reach God.
Yet, like other true men of god, he is no fanatic , without even a trace of bigotry in him. His songs and lectures are typically characterised by the absence of any criticism on other paths and religions. He inculcates a spirit of universal acceptance , coupled with intense faith and steadfast devotion on the path the seeker is treading on.
Swamiji considers protection of Vedas - Bharata Varsha's (India's) grandest gift to humanity in general and earnest seekers worldwide in particular - and the path of Nama Kirthanam as the two solid supporting pillars of Hindu religion - our Sanathana Dharma....
His vision is to develop a band of inspired ,selfless youngsters who shall serve the society by disseminating the profound truths revealed to us by our great ancestors to the people , to clear the misunderstanding shrouding our great and vast religion ; showing the path of Bhakthi and Nama Kirthan as the surest , safest and easiest way to reach God.
To the common people who seek to lead a higher life of Spirituality , his advice is sweet and simple:
